Hai,
You mean the deduction available under sec 80 U , ie Rs. 50,000 allowed as deduction?
For this you need to produce the disability certificate issued by competent authority and it shoulb be currently a valid one. Excerpts from the IT law is as follows:
Every individual claiming a deduction under this section shall furnish a copy of the certificate issued by the medical authority in the form and manner, as may be prescribed, along with the return of income under section 139, in respect of the assessment year for which the deduction is claimed :

Thanks for your mail.
You are right. But as per the details available in the National Identity Card and Passbook, we can use these instead of getting the mediacl certificate every time. I got news that normal disablity a certificate from an mediacal authortiy is enough and not necessary the certificate in same format of income tax.

Hi,
The medical certificate issued by a medical authority is enough, this itself  would have been  issued by a board of doctors, right?
No need that the disability certificate should be in the format as said by IT dept.
If your disability is of permanent nature, the certificate which you now have is enough.
If your disability is of temperory nature, pl make sure that its validity is current
Along with your IT returns form, you need to enclose the disability certificate, its enough.
