Certificate Course in Personality Development for Persons with Disabilities


FICCI-Socio Economic Development Foundation (SEDF), AccessAbility and Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, have come together to initiate a skills development program for Persons with Disabilities. We realize that while there are a large number of Persons with Disabilities who may have the required qualification and experience to find a suitable job, however, it may be their lack of confidence and self esteem (or overall personality and outlook) that may prevent equal opportunity employers from hiring them.

We have therefore proposed to start a short term certificate course in Personality Development, to be conducted by the esteemed Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan in collaboration with FICCI (SEDF) and AccessAbility. The details of the program are given below for reference.

The proposed certificate course, beginning 10th August, is for a total duration of 40 hours.

Eligibility:
10 + 2 and above; Persons with Orthopedic or Locomotor Disability (initially for the pilot batch*)

Proposed Start Date:
10th August – 10th September, 2009

Course Timings:
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

Course content:
The course would comprise interactive/learning sessions on the following:
Social – Etiquette and Manners
Basic Language Skills
Public Speaking
Appearance/ Looks
Self Esteem and Self Confidence
Communication on telephone
Corporate Etiquette
Business Communication (including letter writing; Interviewing Skills; Presentation Skills; Group Discussions; Change in attitude; Motivation; Aspiration and Inspiration; Assertiveness)

Training methodology:
Class-room teaching
Presentations through hi-tech Audio/Visual aids
Group work

Venue:
Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi

Course Fee:
While the Regular Fee of the above course is Rs. 9000/- Per Candidate, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan is offering it for this group at a Discounted Fee of Rs. 3000/-. Additionally FICCI (SEDF) is contributing some part of the Fee so the candidate will need to Pay only Rs. 1000/- towards the entire course.

*For the pilot batch. Based on the success of the pilot batch, customized course curriculum and supporting aids shall be developed for the persons with Visual Impairment and Hearing and Speech Impairments.

• The organizers reserve the right to make amendments to any of the aforementioned criteria, training content, schedule and venue.
• The organizers reserve the right to postpone or cancel the training course at a short notice, due to inadequate registration of candidates or any other unforeseen circumstances, beyond control of the organizers.
