Access Appraisals:

  1. ITC Welcomgroup – As access consultants to the ITC Welcomgroup we are involved with the access appraisal of all their upcoming hotels. Recent appraisal conducted was of:
    • ITC Gardenia – review of upcoming 230 room five star Luxury hotel property in Bangalore. We ensured compliance with international Starwood Minimum Accessibility Guidelines for Guests with Disabilities. The review include:
      • Access to all external layout of the hotel including parking and pathways
      • Access to all internal facilities including vertical and horizontal circulation, restaurants, spa & pool, accessible rooms, public toilets etc.
      • Pointing out any building management issues that will require considerations
    • ITC Grand Chola - An ornate tribute to the South Indian Architecture. ITC Chola has 600 rooms and serviced appartments. The appraisal included review of all public areas and the accessible guest rooms. 
    • ITC Fortune Bangalore - An upcoming 4 star hotel in Bangalore. Reviewed all public areas and the accessible guest rooms.
  2. Apeejay Park Hotels – As access consultants to the Apeejay Park hotels we are involved with the access appraisal of all their upcoming hotels. Recent appraisal conducted was of:
    • The Park, Hyderabad – review of planned hotel property to incorporate accessibility for guests with disabilities, in line with the ADA (Americans with Disability Act) Accessibility Guidelines. The Park Hyderabad is a five star 280 room luxury hotel with a shopping mall. The review included access in both internal and external environments of the hotel. The external environment included the parking and the pathways, whereas internal included all hotel facilities such as vertical circulation, horizontal circulation, pool & spa, restaurants, public toilets and the shopping mall.
    • The Park, Kochi - Appraisal included review of all plublic areas and guest room for disabled persons

Some major Access Audits:

  • ITC Welcomgroup - As access Consultants to the group we have extensively access audited 11 of their hotel property in India. The audit reports are presently being implemented by each property. The report includes issues with recommendations pertaining to :
    • infrastructural & information accessibility,
    • policy enhancements and
    • training inputs.
  • Fortune Select Exotica Hotel, Navi Mumbai – Conducted an Access Audit of the 4 star Fortune Select Exotica hotel property in Navi Mumbai that included auditing accessibility of all public access as well as staff facilities and providing recommendations for improvement in line with international accessibility standards and best practice guidelines.

Publications Authored

  1. Planning a Barrier Free Environment - Authored the Manual for the Office of Chief Commissioner for Disabilities. The manual is recognized by the government of India as a training tool for architects and NGO workers and also the CPWD. The book has also been referenced by the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India for its publication: ‘Manual for Guidelines for providing facilities for physically challenged persons in Hotels and Restaurants’.
  2. Welcoming All – Designing to Include – Authored this manual for the projects division of the ITC Welcomgroup with design details of various areas in the Hotel. This manual has been developed to ensure accessibility of all upcoming hotel properties.

Research

  • Universally Designed Guest Rooms - Conducted a research study to prepare a model for Universally Designed guest rooms for five star hotel properties. The aim of this project was to assist in developing a blue print for standard guest rooms that may easily be converted, as and when needed, into an adapted room for guests with disabilities.
